About Me
Crystal Brewe is a member of the executive leadership team at the Kimmel Cultural Campus, which attracts more than 1 million people annually across its three venues along the Avenue of the Arts in Philadelphia. As the Chief Marketing and Audience Experience Officer, she is responsible for a wide range of key initiatives ranging from revenue-building opportunities to community-driven programs. With an M.A. in Communication and Organizational Change, and over twenty years’ experience in marketing for national clients in the cultural and entertainment industries, Crystal has played a leadership role in various divisions ranging from programming to fundraising and marketing.
With direct oversight over audience development, communications, and research/analysis, Crystal was instrumental during the COVID-19 pandemic in helping the Kimmel Cultural Campus successfully navigate unchartered territory by providing strategic guidance and direction to remain relevant for over a year while its doors were closed. She works closely with the programming team to oversee event feasibility, ensuring each program reflects the spirit and interests of the region. In 2017, Brewe was selected to head up the Cultural Campus’ development of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) strategy. Her thoughtful leadership has been instrumental in operationalizing better engagement with the staff and community, and in the establishment of clear key performance indicators and measures for accountability.
Crystal’s work building relationships within the community and attracting cultural tourists has led to innovative partnerships, revenue records, and benchmarks in audience development. She has an extensive background in the field of cultural tourism, having taught graduate-level courses at the University of Miami and worked closely with The Convention and Visitors Bureau to shift Miami’s “beach and club only” perception using the arts as a catalyst. She was appointed, in 2015, to work with Visit Philadelphia on their Hispanic and Latino Advisory Committee and in 2004, served on the Oahu Visitor Bureau's Hawai’i Arts Season Task Force, which was integrally involved in the Downtown Honolulu urban arts renewal and re-branding of Hawai’i through the arts and culture.
Crystal lives in East Falls, Philadelphia with her two teenage daughters and husband, Dr. Eric Brewe.
